| Less than an hour from Orlando
you can find yourself lost in the tranquil settings of Florida’s yester
years at the St. John’s River Resort. Situated on the 330-mile long
St. John's River, adjacent to the Ocala National Forest, the Resort enjoys
spectacular seclusion and beauty while only 30 miles from Orlando, 20 miles
from Daytona Beach and 4 miles from Deland.
The Resort is located on
an isolated stretch of the St. Johns River. Famed for its bass fishing,
the St. Johns River links magnificent parks with wildlife preserves. Traversing
310 miles of the Sunshine State, the St. Johns River is the longest river
in Florida and one of only three rivers in the nation that flows north.
The total drop of the river
from its source in swamps south of Melbourne to its mouth in the Atlantic
near Jacksonville is less than 30 feet, or about one inch per mile, making
it one of the "laziest" rivers in the world. The long and lazy river offers
a wide variety of recreational opportunities including boating, fishing,
canoeing, bird-watching, dinner river cruises, and ecological tours.
We are currently working
with Volusia County on necessary permits to renovate the marina to increase
our boat capacity to 170 slips and also add a small RV park for overnight
guests.
